September saw Mike meeting hundreds of pupils in schools in Cumbernauld, Airdrie, Kilmacolm, Bridge of Weir and Houston. Huge thanks to Scotia Books and Ginger Cat Bookshop for setting up some huge events and managing sales.
It’s been so good to see the enthusiasm for books and the interest from children in the writing process.
Each event used a theme of ‘Fact or Fake News’ as children explored where writers get their ideas from, the origins of Hotel Grimm and how that story came to life, and considered how some facts can be manipulated into fanciful stories.
Mike’s ‘Fake News Generator’ activity created some fun scenarios of what happens in schools ‘at midnight’…lots of hilarity from the strange goings-on in STEM labs, nurture rooms, staff rooms and dining halls – just when you think that the building is quiet at the end of a school day!
